Quick answer: Barter collaborations in India are concentrated in beauty, fashion, lifestyle and food, and they come overwhelmingly from young D2C brands rather than large advertisers. We checked our own marketplace on 21 September 2026: 20 of 214 creator profiles are marked open to barter, and none of the brand campaigns posted so far asked for barter. So this is not a list of fifty brands scraped from a blog. It is what our data shows, the two brands whose own websites publicly invite creators to apply, and five checks that tell you whether any brand is worth pitching.
Search for barter collaboration brands in India and you get the same list on twenty sites. Nobody says where it came from and nobody says when it was checked. Half the brands on those lists stopped running creator programmes years ago. We would rather publish less and have it be true.
What our own marketplace shows
InfluencerMetric is an Indian creator marketplace, so we can see one side of this directly. Queried from production on 21 September 2026:
| What we measured | Number |
|---|---|
| Creator profiles on the platform | 214 |
| Profiles marked open to barter collaborations | 20 |
| Of those, creators with live priced listings | 17 |
| Brand campaigns posted asking for barter | 0 |
| Median Reel price listed by a barter friendly creator | ₹3,000 |
That last pair is the finding. Creators opt into barter far more readily than brands ask for it. Brands that come to a marketplace come to buy, and they post paid briefs. Barter happens in the DMs, off platform, which is exactly why nobody has a reliable list of the brands doing it.
The categories where barter is normal
Those 20 barter friendly creators tell you where the demand sits, because creators opt in where they get asked. Genres are multi select, so the counts overlap:
This matches what the product categories look like on the brand side. Skincare, cosmetics, clothing, accessories, packaged food and cafes have two things in common: a physical item with a real retail value, and a constant need for fresh creative to test in ads. Those are the conditions barter needs. A software company or a bank has no box to send you.
The same category ranking shows up in our list of Indian brands hiring UGC creators, where beauty and skincare is the single biggest buying category.
Brands that publicly invite creators to apply
These are the ones we could verify on the company's own website on 21 September 2026. That is a deliberately short list, and the next section explains why.
Mamaearth
Mamaearth's own customer support site has a published article for creators who want to work with the brand:
"Thank you for your interest in Mamamearth, please fill this form https://bit.ly/mamaearthCollab."
Mamaearth support, "I want to collaborate with Mamaearth", checked 21 September 2026
Note what the page does not say. It names no follower minimum, no payment terms and no mention of product or cash. Anyone telling you Mamaearth's barter threshold is a specific follower count is guessing. Fill the form and find out.
Plum
Plum publishes affiliate terms that any creator can read before applying, which is rarer than it should be:
"The Company shall in lieu agree to pay the Brand Affiliate a 10% commission on the sales generated" and "The Brand Affiliate will be given a unique code offering of 15% discount to their audience." The commission is computed on the order value after the discount is applied.
Plum, affiliate terms and conditions, checked 21 September 2026
That is commission, not barter. It matters because it is the honest alternative many beauty brands offer instead: no fee, no free box, but a cut of what you actually sell. For a creator with a buying audience that can beat a barter kit outright.
Why the list stops there
We tried to verify more. Most Indian D2C brands do run creator seeding, but they run it through agencies, private forms and DMs, and publish nothing a reader can check. Naming twenty brands on the strength of somebody else's blog post would make this page look fuller and make it less useful. So here is the method instead, and it works on any brand.
Five checks that tell you if a brand runs barter
- Look at their tagged posts. Open the brand's Instagram profile, go to tagged, and look for small accounts posting product content with a Paid partnership or Collaboration label. If creators under 20,000 followers appear there regularly, the brand seeds.
- Check the Meta Ad Library. Search the brand. A brand running dozens of creator style video ads needs a constant supply of new creative, and that appetite is what funds seeding programmes.
- Search their own site for a collaboration page. Try the brand name with the words collaborate, creator programme, influencer or affiliate. Mamaearth's page above is exactly what you are looking for.
- Look at how new the brand is. Barter is what brands do before they have a media budget. A label that launched in the last two years and posts creator content daily is a far better target than a household name.
- Count the price. A brand whose hero product sells for ₹299 cannot make a fair barter offer to a creator who charges ₹3,000 for a Reel. Aim at brands whose product value is near your rate. Barter collaboration meaning explains that maths.
What to send when you pitch
Keep it to four lines: who you are with one number, which of their products you already use, exactly what you will make, and what you want in return. Name the product value you expect. Most creators leave that out and then feel underpaid when a ₹400 sample turns up.
Full scripts, including the version that counters with product plus a small fee, are in how to approach brands for collaboration and in the barter meaning guide. If you are starting from zero followers, brand deals with a small following is the order to do things in.
Red flags in a barter offer
- They will not name the retail value of the product.
- They want the content before the product ships.
- They ask you to buy the product and promise reimbursement later.
- They want advertising rights, exclusivity or a fixed launch date for free. Each of those has a price. See usage rights pricing.
- The brief arrives with unlimited revisions and approval rounds attached.
How brands should be running this instead
If you are on the brand side of this page: the reason you cannot find creators who will take barter is that you are asking strangers in the DMs. On InfluencerMetric a creator can mark their profile open to barter and still show their cash price, so you can see both before you message. Twenty of them are visible right now, and paid bookings run through escrow that only releases when you approve the content. The brand guide is barter collaborations with influencers.
Skip the cold DM round. Browse Indian creators by niche and city, see who is open to barter, and see what they charge in cash before you send a message.

Which brands do barter collaboration in India?
Mostly young D2C brands in beauty, skincare, fashion, lifestyle and packaged food, plus local restaurants, cafes and salons. Mamaearth publishes a collaboration form on its own support site. Large advertisers almost always pay cash instead.
How do I find barter collaboration brands near me?
Search your city hashtags and location tags on Instagram, look at which local businesses are already tagged by small creators, and check the tagged tab on every brand you shortlist. Local food and salon businesses are the easiest first yes.
Do big brands like Mamaearth do barter?
Mamaearth publicly invites creators to apply through a form on its support site, but the page states no terms, so what any individual creator is offered is not something we can verify. Treat every published list of brand barter thresholds as unverified.
How many followers do I need for barter collaborations?
There is no universal minimum. Nano creators under 10,000 followers get the most barter offers because the trade suits both sides. Engagement and content quality matter more than the follower number.
Is barter collaboration free money?
No. You are paying with a shoot, an edit and your audience's attention. Value the product against your own cash rate before you agree.
Where do brands post barter campaigns?
Mostly nowhere public. In our own data, zero of the brand campaigns posted on the platform asked for barter, while 20 creator profiles opted into it. Barter is negotiated in DMs and through agencies, which is why no reliable public list exists.
