YouTube Earnings Per View in India: ₹0.015 to ₹0.25

9 min readShare on WhatsApp, X, LinkedIn

Quick summary ↝One Indian view is worth between ₹0.015 and ₹0.25 depending on the niche. Here is the full band by category, what 1 lakh views actually pays, and the measured monthly view distribution from 421 channels our analyzer has been tracking since July.

YouTube Earnings Per View in India: ₹0.015 to ₹0.25

Quick answer: One long form YouTube view in India pays roughly ₹0.015 to ₹0.25, which is ₹15 to ₹250 per 1,000 views. The niche decides where you land: finance ₹0.09 to ₹0.25 per view, tech ₹0.07 to ₹0.18, vlogs ₹0.03 to ₹0.08, gaming ₹0.03 to ₹0.06, kids ₹0.015 to ₹0.035. So 1 lakh views earns about ₹9,000 to ₹25,000 on a finance channel and ₹1,500 to ₹3,500 on a kids channel. Shorts pay roughly a tenth of long form. These are the bands our YouTube analyzer computes with, applied to real view counts from 421 channels it has been tracking since 14 July 2026.

Nobody can tell you what a view is worth without asking what the video is about. That is the whole answer, and most articles bury it under a single made up average. A finance explainer and a nursery rhyme can pull identical view counts and earn ten times apart, because advertisers bid completely different amounts to reach those two audiences.

What one view pays, by niche

RPM is revenue per thousand views: what actually reaches your account after YouTube keeps its 45% share of ad revenue. Divide it by a thousand and you have the per view figure. These are the Indian audience bands our analyzer uses on every channel page it renders:

Same lakh of views, seven times the money. Niche is the biggest single lever on YouTube income in India.

These bands are calibrated for Indian audiences. A channel registered in India whose viewers are mostly American earns Western rates instead, which is why the analyzer picks a band from the channel's market rather than from the country you are reading in.

The measured part: what channels actually get in views

Rates are only half of the sum. The other half is how many views an Indian channel actually collects in a month, and that we measure rather than estimate.

Sample: our analyzer has recorded a daily snapshot for 721 YouTube channels between 14 July and 21 September 2026. 421 of them have at least 20 days of history, which is enough to compute a real 30 day view rate from the change in lifetime views. That is the sample behind every number in this section. The tracked set is India first: the seeded list is Indian channels and the rest are channels visitors to an Indian site looked up. We do not verify the audience country of each one, so read the views as measured and the rupees as an estimate built on the bands above.

SubscribersChannelsMedian views per month (measured)Middle half of the range

10K to 100K55610,490269,450 to 1,592,989
100K to 1M732,459,778930,331 to 7,399,476
1M to 10M10010,495,0083,293,773 to 41,698,772
10M and above8477,333,98027,456,213 to 393,551,197

The first row is not a typo and we are leaving it in. One hundred and nine tracked channels have under 10,000 subscribers and a median of eight measured views a month. They are dormant accounts, abandoned channels and look alike handles people typed in by mistake. Subscribers do not pay. Views pay, and most small channels are not getting any.

Putting the two halves together

Take the measured median views for each tier and apply the general niche band of ₹30 to ₹70 per 1,000 views:

SubscribersMedian monthly viewsEstimated monthly ad revenue
10K to 100K610,490₹18,000 to ₹43,000
100K to 1M2,459,778₹74,000 to ₹1,72,000
1M to 10M10,495,008₹3,15,000 to ₹7,35,000
10M and above77,333,980₹23,20,000 to ₹54,13,000

Swap in your own niche band from the first table and the numbers move a lot. A finance channel at the 100K to 1M median earns roughly ₹2,21,000 to ₹6,15,000 a month from ads instead of ₹74,000 to ₹1,72,000, on identical views. Our guide on how much Indian YouTubers earn works through the same stack of income lines.

Why Shorts pay so much less per view

Shorts revenue comes out of a shared pool rather than from ads attached to your specific video, so the per view figure collapses to roughly a tenth of long form. Our YouTube pay per 1,000 views guide puts Shorts at ₹2 to ₹10 per 1,000 views, which is ₹0.002 to ₹0.01 a view. That is why a Shorts channel with ten million monthly views can earn less than a finance channel with three hundred thousand. Use Shorts for discovery and long form for revenue.

Ad revenue is the floor, not the ceiling

For most Indian creators the per view question stops mattering the moment brand deals start. Our analyzer prices a sponsored integration at roughly four to six times the ad RPM for the same thousand views, adjusted up or down by how engaged the channel's audience is. A tech channel earning ₹0.07 to ₹0.18 per view from ads is worth something closer to ₹0.28 to ₹1.08 per view to a sponsor.

That gap is the whole business. It is also why the honest answer to "how much does YouTube pay per view in India" is that YouTube is the smallest of your income lines once you can sell an integration. Read how to price yourself before you quote a brand.

Work out your own number in two minutes

  1. Open YouTube Studio and take your views for the last 28 days.
  2. Divide by 1,000.
  3. Multiply by the low and high RPM for your niche from the first table. That is your monthly ad revenue range.
  4. Compare it with what Studio actually reports. If your real RPM sits below the band, your watch time or your ad formats are the problem, not your views.

Or skip the arithmetic: paste any channel into the free YouTube analyzer and it does all of the above, including the niche detection and a fair brand rate. Before you count on any of it, check you actually qualify for payouts in the YouTube monetization guide for India.

One note on the wider ranges you will see elsewhere

Our own per 1,000 views guide quotes survey ranges from third party Indian sources that run wider than the bands above, up to ₹400 per 1,000 for finance. Both can be true. Survey ranges include the best months of the best channels. The analyzer bands are deliberately narrower because they are what we are willing to compute a public estimate with on hundreds of channel pages. When the two disagree, treat the wider range as the outer edge and the bands here as the working number.

FAQ

How much does YouTube pay per view in India?

Roughly ₹0.015 to ₹0.25 per long form view, depending on niche. Kids and music sit at the bottom, finance and marketing at the top. Shorts pay about ₹0.002 to ₹0.01 per view.

How much is 1 lakh views worth in India?

Between ₹1,500 and ₹25,000 from ads, set by the niche. A gaming channel earns about ₹3,000 to ₹6,000 for the same lakh of views that pays a finance channel ₹9,000 to ₹25,000.

How much does 1 million views pay in India?

Ten times the lakh figure: roughly ₹15,000 to ₹2,50,000 from ads, with the niche deciding where in that range you land.

Why is my RPM lower than these numbers?

Usually a large Shorts share, a young audience, heavy skipping in the first thirty seconds, or a month with weak advertiser demand. January and February are reliably the worst months of the year for RPM.

Do Indian channels earn less per view than American ones?

Yes, by a wide margin, because advertisers bid less for Indian impressions. The same content with a mostly American audience can earn several times more, which is why our analyzer picks the rate band from the channel's audience market rather than from where you are reading.

How many views do I need to earn ₹1 lakh a month?

On the general band of ₹30 to ₹70 per 1,000 views, between 1.4 million and 3.3 million views a month. On a finance channel, between 400,000 and 1.1 million.

What sample is this based on?

721 YouTube channels with daily snapshots recorded between 14 July and 21 September 2026, of which 421 have at least 20 days of history and are used for the measured view figures.
